Terms of use
Last updated: 21 May 2026
This document is a good-faith starter draft based on how the service actually operates today. It is not legal advice. Please have a qualified lawyer review it for your jurisdiction before relying on it in production.
Agreement
These terms form a binding agreement between you and Million Memories ("we", "us"). By using the service — browsing the wall, creating an account, or placing a memory pixel — you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.
What the service is
Million Memories is a permanent online archive of human memory. The wall is a fixed-size grid of memory pixels. Each memory pixel can be claimed once, by one person, and stays in place indefinitely.
The permanence promise
Placed memory pixels are designed to last. Once a memory pixel is published it cannot be edited or moved, and removal is exceptional — used only where law requires (illegal content, valid takedown notice, verified rights violation) or where the moderation team determines the content breaches these terms.
There is no "undo". Please read your caption, check your photo, and confirm everything before paying.
Your account
- You must be at least 16 to create an account.
- You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for everything that happens under your account.
- Your pseudonym is shown alongside non-anonymous pixels you place. Pick something you're willing to be associated with forever.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms.
Content rules
By uploading you confirm that the content is yours to share and that publishing it is lawful. The following are prohibited:
- Nudity, sexually explicit material, or content involving minors;
- Violence, gore, or graphic imagery;
- Hate speech, threats, or harassment;
- Content depicting identifiable people without their consent;
- Copyrighted material you do not have rights to;
- Advertising, spam, or links to other commercial services;
- Anything illegal in the UK or your home jurisdiction.
Every photo passes through automated AI safety review before payment. Photos that fail are rejected at upload — no money changes hands. We additionally reserve the right to review any published memory pixel and remove it if it breaches these rules.
Your content; our licence
You keep ownership of everything you upload. By placing a memory pixel you grant Million Memories a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, non-exclusive licence to host, store, reproduce, and display that content as part of the wall, and to include it in search results, social sharing previews, and archival back-ups. This licence survives termination of your account because removing every historic memory pixel from every backup is not always possible.
Payment, pricing, refunds
- The current price to place a memory pixel is £1.00 (one pound sterling). Pricing may change for future placements; placements already paid for are unaffected.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. See their terms at stripe.com.
- No refunds. Once a memory pixel is placed and on the wall, the transaction is final. If your upload fails AI moderation, no payment is taken and the flow halts before checkout.
- In the exceptional case that a memory pixel is removed under these terms, the original purchase is not refundable.
Gifts
You can pay to reserve a memory pixel and gift it to someone else by email. The recipient must claim it and add their own memory content before the memory pixel is published. Unclaimed gifts may be reclaimed by you or expire after a reasonable period.
Service availability
We aim to keep the wall available continuously but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend the service for maintenance, security work, or in response to unforeseen events. We will give reasonable notice where practical.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The service is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We do not guarantee the wall will be free of bugs, downtime, or data loss, though we make all reasonable efforts to prevent these.
- Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the preceding 12 months.
- We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive losses, lost profits, or loss of data.
- Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under English law (for example, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud).
Termination
You may delete your account at any time from your account settings, subject to the permanence note about placed pixels. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, with reasonable notice except where immediate action is needed to protect users.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced to active users by email and the "last updated" date above will reflect the new version. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts, unless mandatory consumer protection rules in your country of residence apply.
